The legendary South African music duo, Mafikizolo, will make an appearance on Coke Studio Africa 2017 on the 14th of October, paired with returning Kenyan R&B and hip-hop artist, Nyashinski and this week’s big break, Dremo. During a Coke Studio Africa 2017 Instagram Live interview with the ‘Khona’ hitmakers, Mafikizolo’s Theo talked about the band’s experience in Nairobi:
“We love the creative and warm vibes that we experienced in the Kenyan studio. Nyashinski is very versatile as far as music is concerned, and so are we”.
Mafikizolo has released a special album with 20 tracks this year to celebrate their 20th anniversary in the music industry.
Nyashinski, Kenya’s biggest comeback king, recently released double hits ‘Aminia’ and ‘Malaika’. His other recent hits include ‘Letigo’, featuring ‘Nameless’, ‘Now You Know’ and ‘Mungu Pekee’. In 2016, Nyashinski featured on Coke Studio Africa paired with Nigerian sensation, Yemi Alade and Uganda’s rising star, Rubi. In that season, he was also among other continental greats who featured in music collaborations with US R&B sensation, Trey Songz.
As he makes a return to Coke Studio 2017, Nyashinski has expressed excitement for the new season saying,
“I am happy to be back on the show and can’t wait to work with Mafikizolo – a group I have always held in high regard.”
Shekhinah, AKA, Busiswa, Nasty C, Amanda Black and Mi Casa, are among top South African talent featured on Coke Studio Africa 2017. Big name producers include DJ Maphorisa, Sketchy Bongo, and South Africa based Malawian producer, Gemini Major.
